I would just like people to know what Corby Place is all about and what it means to me. I have been here going on 17 years. Started out in the business office, applied for the Executive Director , didn't get it. Stayed in the business office through 4 more Executive Director and applied again. So this time I got the Executive Director job and kept the business office position and here I am today still loving my job! My passion is Seniors, my dad was a nursing home administrator in Maysville, MO for 10 years and at Savannah for 18 years, so it's in my blood. My Mother also worked along side my Dad all those years. We here at Corby Place like to call Corby Place Home! You become part of our family whether you like us or not. That is just who we are. Truly life is about relationships and we have great ones here at Corby. We don't have any bad apartments, they range from 614 sq. ft. to 1160 sq. ft. We have one and two bedrooms along with two penthouses available. You will not find any better services than what we have: 3 meals a day, housekeeping, laundry, full calendar of activities, transportation, Sunday church services, here or at your own church, you control your own heating and cooling, basic cable included , all utilities paid except telephone, theme dinners, outside trips, MO theater, farmers market, department store, out to eat at local restaurants, ect. We have an in house agency Royal Comfort Services that are in our building 24/7 or you can choose anyone to come in and help you. This is your home, and I want you to make it your home. Paint, hang pictures, when you walk in I want you to feel and say, Wow, this is home!" You can come and go as you please, have your grandchildren over to spend the night have fun! Life is short! If you have never been to Corby Place, I invite you down to take a tour and see what we have! You don't know what you are missing, a great family atmosphere. We don't have a product to sell except our services and ourselves and it would be our pleasure to serve you or a loved one. So maybe you don't need us right now, but I truly believe everyone knows someone that we could help and that could become part of our family! Please take the time, we'd love to show you around! We have a lot of fun here. Our three words we live by here are: Happy, Healthy and Safe! This is our goal for all our residents, families and team members! We look forward to your visit! The staff is willing to go above and beyond for each and every resident. From transportation to laundry and housekeeping, delicious meals, outings and activities they really do care about their residents. For those needing extra help, the care staff from Royal Comfort care services will do whatever it takes. But most of all the love and care shown to the family at Corby is evident in the number of staff who have worked here for 15 or more years. Turnover is a constant struggle in most senior residential settings, from nursing homes to assisted livings to retirement communities, but all the department heads except me, the new kid on the block in a newly created position, here have been here for many, many years which speaks to the teamwork and staff appreciation which translates into great staff who know and care about their residents.
I must say, I am really not too pleased with this place. I have had an all around negative experience with this "facility", and I would advise you to search elsewhere if you are seeking an assisted living home for a relative. First, most of the staff here does not care about their residents. They aren't really treated like "People", and I feel like the staff members don't treat them with the same respect that they would a younger or more capable person. I have seen Residents walking around who are soiled with urine, and no one helps them because it's a nuisance. The kitchen staff is very friendly, but that's about it. The rest of the staff is stand offish and lazy. If you confront them about a problem, they say it's "Not their responsibility" and they can't do anything about it. My family member is getting SICKER since she's been here because nobody has been taking care of her, or watching her. I was disgusting to find upon my visit, that she was out of her medicine and did not have any insulin, and had not been taking any for WEEKS. Why are we paying money for services which aren't properly performed or fulfilled? If you want someone to actually watch out for your loved one, you have to pay for a "higher" level of care, otherwise they are pretty much just left to themselves. I also feel like the staff doesn't really respect the family members of their Residents, and doesn't value the need for Residents to be able to be in contact with their family members and have visits. When I was unable to contact my family member for a prolonged period of time, I worriedly called the Facility, and they were absolutely zero help. They said they can't give out any information, and can't do anything for me. I don't live in the city, so it's not like I can just show up!! Overall, throughout the past SIX YEARS, I have become increasingly disgusted with this place. Please don't send your loved one here. They will NOT be taken care of!!
Not only is the staff amazing and friendly they always go above and beyond for us as a family.
I have lived her for almost five years and I LOVE it. I don't have to worry about housekeeping, or laundry or cooking.
My grandmother has lived here for the past several years.
The history of the building is amazing but it is the family atmosphere of love and caring that makes Corby my home.
No matter if it's helping provide accommodation for family get togethers or check on her when she is unreachable by phone.
As the newest member of Corby Place Senior Living, I am in awe of the teamwork and great care provided by Corby Place Senior Living.
There are activities everyday and weekends and evenings and if you want to do something that isn't on the calendar just ask and it will magically show up.
